Still Alive

The good news is that I'm still alive; the bad news is that I have no idea what to do with this site. Long ago, I created this site with the intent of it being to show off my various creations. Since then, numerous services have popped up (e.g., DeviantArt, Flickr, etc.) that add a community aspect, which this site will never have. So, I've been lazy about updating this site, and I haven't added any content for a long time. At some point I may just change it to a bunch of links to various locations where my artwork is available, but I haven't decided for sure yet.

I had an issue with the script that runs PHP on my server, which caused unreliability over the past ten days or so. Fortunately, I was finally able to fix it today, and the site should be faster than ever now.

I finished my internship at the end of January and have since started working part-time as a web developer for a company in downtown Seattle. I've been working on a lot of different projects in my spare time, but none of them involve doing anything with this site. Sorry!

My teaching internship has been keeping me extremely busy. I have been trying to update my blog now and then, but this site has taken a low priority. In fact, I'm not sure what I want to do with this site. I suppose it's a showcase of some of my artwork, but I display my art in so many different places (blog, Flickr, DeviantArt, my online portfolio, etc.) that I wonder if I should make some changes. If I keep this site as it is now, I will probably be adding a drawing section at some point, since I have been doing a lot of drawing lately (as seen on my blog).

Four New Photos

Just like on the fifth, I decided to take the time to add some of my recent work. This time I opted to add four photos that I took in the past two months, including one from the recent Fourth of July fireworks display.

Two New-ish Digital Art Additions

I finally took the time to add two pieces of digital art that I created last month and the month before. The older one is an experiment with combining photos to create multiple copies of me in one image and the newer one is just a wild manipulation.

I took several photos at Whatcom Falls Park yesterday. If anyone is looking for them, I put a few (small-sized) ones on Flickr, but feel free to get in contact with me if you would like full-sized versions of any of them.

Painting: Condemned

It is the first weekend of the quarter and I have already completed a painting; this is a good sign. The painting is called Condemned and is quite a bit different from any of my past paintings (though, I could probably say that about each painting as I finish it). I played heavily with perspective and specific colors in order to draw the viewer in.

Barack Obama Speech Generator

I added a Barack Obama Speech Generator to the site. It isn't anything fancy, but I thought it was entertaining. Obama gives some amazing speeches, so I create a simple script to generate speeches that sound like something he might actually say.

Digital Art: Reach

A few days ago, I took a bunch of photos of myself to use as a reference for a painting I hope to complete in the near future. When I moved them onto my computer, I noticed a couple that really stood out to me. I modified one of them in GIMP and came up with Reach.
