Lyrics
Calling Home
By Ian G. Clifton
April 6th, 2003
I'm just calling home
I'm just checking in
Everything's the way
It has always been
Just when I thought
Time was moving on
Everything stood still
Nothing is really gone
Still I wonder
What could have been
My ideas and thoughts
I scrawl with a pen
But if nothing has changed
Then where has time gone
I guess life's pieces
Have forced me to move on
Every day I'm older
And I can look farther back
But life is rushing forward
So I can't forget to pack
There's no time for tears
And no real reason to cry
It all ends the same
But the journey is the reason why
I live for the adventure
I live for experience
Living for life
Is the only thing that makes sense
So I try not to pout
And I don't get mad
I realize the important things
I have always had
I won't lose my heart
Because they are hard to find
And I'm careful how closely I listen
To my too-logical mind
But I'm sure to call home
Because I need to check in
I have to be sure
Everything's the way it has always been
