Lyrics

Graduation

Listen, just give me a moment of your time
Life is changing, but you'll be fine
Sometimes it will be hard to wake to a new day
But just keep your head up; you'll be okay

Those tears are part of life; don't feel any shame
Every person out there has felt the same
Only fools hide it; the rest can't find a way
To put those feelings into words that we can say

Everyone is proud, so don't feel alone
If you need to hear my voice, call me on the phone
It can be early or far into the night
Next time we're together, I'll hold you tight

I'll hold on a little longer than I normally do
No one will notice except for us two
I'll tell you that I miss you, but you won't seem to hear
Then I won't see you again until the next year

And every day that goes past, I'll stare into the sky
Life doesn't seem to last and I'll always wonder why
I guess that makes it precious, these tears all worthwhile
But every second of time puts yesterday back a mile

All I can offer is a smile and a nod
Everything else is left up to God
I guess my moment is near its end
Just know no matter what I'd do it all again

Good luck out there; I'm sure you'll be fine
I'll always be here; you are a son of mine
