Lyrics
Insightful Night of Happiness
By Ian G. Clifton
December 4th, 2000
One day, I was writing this poem,
About the sky, about the moon, about it snowin'.
The flakes of white fluttered in the night.
O! What a beautiful sight!
I shivered, though not with fright.
To keep my body still took great might.
A crazy idea filled my head.
"Do something great," my mind said.
So a smile I put on my face,
And into the night I did race.
To strangers, I spread happiness and cheer.
My friends I hugged and held near.
People looked oddly at me,
But soon they too were filled with glee!
Up curved the corners of their lips.
A happy jig controlled their hips.
Soon the city was filled with wonder.
No more did anyone rob or plunder.
A wonderful place it soon became.
But the next day it was not the same.
People lost their happiness at last.
Their dancing and smiles had passed.
Their moods turned grim.
Their thoughts were dim.
If only they could see what I do.
Your happiness rests on just you!
