Lyrics
Mirage
By Ian G. Clifton
April 24th, 2004
I'm red as a lobster
Sun burning my back
Sweat dripping down my face
I'm having a heart attack
A breeze blows by
Cools me down just a bit
There's work to do
But I don't give a shit
I'm enjoying the day
Living my life free
The fools in the suits
Wishing they could be me
I stare off at the mountain
Snow on its top
I hope the heat will pass
But it just won't stop
There's a mirage
A few feet away
I listen real close
To what it has to say
"Listen close to me now
I have something to tell
The sun might be hot
But you're not in hell
"Just keep that smile
On your red face
You've got to live life
At a happy pace
"Keep your heart up
It has to be strong
Sometimes it will hurt
And time seems so long
"But you have to realize
That it will go by
You shouldn't waste that time
Always wondering why
"Trust me there's a reason
But you don't need to know
You just make things better
And let your faith grow
"I hope you don't forget
What I had to say
I hope you realize
Tomorrow's another day
"Now I must go
I've got people to tell
They're on Earth
Quit pretending it's hell"
After he left
A breeze blew by
But I was busy working
Didn't stop to wonder why
