I'm already thinking back
Of just a few years ago
Why it seems so long past
I don't really know
It was a time of simplicity
Life was about living free
You could be you
I could be me
We were supposed to be learning
And learn I guess we did
Though any chance we could
From school, we hid
Now that my brain is clear
Of all those facts so trite
I have learned life lessons
And gained a whole new sight
I see now that things were good
All my quibbles have fled
And that pure ignorance
Well, I guess it is dead
I see now how the world is
I know what people are like
To see the places I've been
I need more than a bike
But that is enough I think
Those thoughts aren't going to last
I spend far too much time
Remembering my past
Those were the days full of fun
We did whatever we chose
Though as smart as I may be
I don't know where the time goes
