Lyrics
When I Wander
By Ian G. Clifton
March 13th, 2003
As I wander in the hall
There are so many people I see
I look at them all
But they're so different from me
In our loneliness we are together
Hiding in our possessions
Peers quick to tether
Alone in our obsessions
The past is on my mind
Empty promises from long ago
Why I care to remember
I don't really know
As I wander in a mall
I see people young and old
I see some whom I should call
If only I were so bold
Familiar the faces are
So many look the same
I've been near and far
Most don't know I came
In their eyes I can see
Some have a simple goal
Others are so empty
Filling in a hole
As I wander in the street
Everyone seems to stare
I look down at my feet
And just pass through there
I guess I miss so much
When I close my eyes
But I long for a touch
Not surrounded by lies
So I'll continue to pretend
That nothing at all is wrong
And in the very end
I'll know they cared all along
