This was based loosely on a photo of Ashley, but much of the background detail was removed or simplified.

I actually spent many days working on this. I just couldn't satisfy myself with each little bit and continually changed and reworked several sections of it. I wanted the face to be there, but not harsh. It kept either hiding or screaming out to the world. I did not want the parting of the hair to be so blunt, but rather, I wanted it to look natural. I continually worked and reworked many sections of the painting, but I just could not get it to turn out right. I would have to paint Ashley a few more times before learning to more accurately portray her.
