I took several photos of myself as references for later paintings, but one of them turned out really well due to the lighting. I decided to paint that photo and this is the result.

It took quite a bit of work to get this image to even look kind of like the real painting. I took picture after picture in several lighting situations, eventually settling for sunlight and a whole lot of Photoshop adjustments (lens correction, hue, saturation, etc.). Overall, I really like the painting, even though the face and some other parts bother me. This painting has helped me learn a lot about blending oil paints and creating shadows/shading.
