The church is semi-based on a photograph of one I took in South Dakota during the cross-country trip. The rest of it is just made up. The concept behind this painting is pretty simple and I have seen similar ideas in the past.

The details did not come out as well as I was hoping they would. That is partly due to me being new to oils and partly due to me rushing (and probably largely due to my lack of skill with painting in general). I think that killed a lot of the impact that the idea itself could have had. The idea itself (black and white world with a colored reflection) is pretty nice though, so the painting is still semi-interesting.
