The Choice of Ignorance Date: November 22nd, 2005 Medium: Acrylic Size: 20" by 16"

Info

This is based on the description of a painting in a novel I was working on at the time. The novel is about one man learning (and affecting others by learning) about how much control we all have over our outcomes. The paintings in the novel symbolize various "sins" such as choosing to remain ignorant.

It is amazing how far a completed idea can depart from the original idea, and this painting certainly shows it. The novel description of the painting talked about how hazy it was, as if painted by an artist with too much caffeine in his system. It was also supposed to have many more students in it, but I wanted to avoid too much distraction from the purpose of the painting. It turned out reasonably well, but my favorite part is the black and white poster of Albert Einstein.
